NAMATJIRA is a feature-length movie based on the life of the famous aboriginal artist, Albert Namatjira.

The production team comprises of producer/director Richard Jasek, writer Chris Hawkshaw -- who is currently working on the screenplay, and artist Nick Stathopoulos -- who will be designing the film as well as recreating many of Albert's paintings. All have extensive credits in ther chosen fields.
The production team have recently returned from an exhaustive two week research trip to Alice Springs and Hermannsburg, funded by a grant from the South Australian Film Commission.

They were greatly assisted by their two historical advisors; Gayle Quarmby, the daughter of Rex Battarbee -- the man who taught Albert how to paint, and Lennie Namatjira -- Albert's granddaughter.

With their help, the production was able to secure permission to proceed with the film from the extended Namatjira family, who all seemed genuinely excited about the project.

The film will be shot on location in South Australia, and in the Northern Territory; around Hermannsburg Mission and Alice Springs, where Albert actually worked and lived.
