The convention guest of honour was meant to be writer George Turner, who sadly passed away just before the con. This painting is set in one of his scenarios - a sunken future Melbourne.

There's a huge decaying statue of then Victorian Premier Jeff Kennett on the back cover, which garnered some publicity  and speculation at the time.
