| Crying on the shoulder of the road I find this to be an interesting song. Not only does it come out as a nice song that is well sung by Marina McBride, but it also has some interesting lyrics. As the name implies, one of the lines sites "crying on the shoulder of the road." For me two interpritations come forth. ONE, she is literally crying on the shoulder of the road, therfore is stopped in her car and she cannot drive, because she is overcome with emmotion - as in the video. The SECOND, is that she has so few places to go and so little options left that the road, which is personified to be a standing figure that does not go anywhere, will always be there for her. The way out can be traveled forth on this road, but for now she will let her emotions fray and allow the shoulder of the road comfort her. |
