The Morning Crowd
First off... the background: I picked a sunrise background because we were always there just before the sun started shining in the quadrangle of Comeaux High School. (Just a note, it really isn't a Quadrangle, for it has 7-8 sides depending on what you count as a side). Each morning the sun would rise and someone would usually end up cursing, squniting, or move behind the shadow of the column (Ben and myself), because of the sun brightly shining on the new day.
How it started....

During my frist days at Comeaux High School I stood - in the morning - near the intrance to the Quadrangle - "Quad" - with people who rode my bus, most particulary Jonathon Blanchard along with his friends (from Broussard Middle School). After about three days, I do believe it was the third day, I realized that his group wasn't mine.
(funny how things are related, some of those, became friends with the group I was about to go into, before that somewhat split...and he went "hang out" with one of them).
I ventured to a new area with John Keller, a longtime school friend. We sat on the "far side" (away from the administrations office's) of the Quad. Justin Landry also accompanied us a few days later. We talked about how differnt school was, and about old times. The stage was set for a later joining.

Three, sometimes four seats over, Brandon Meche and Ben Peirce sat. I believe Daniel Racca was also there sometimes, but don't remember if he arrived late, as he tended to do when he started driving. Our first meets involved homework sharing.

"Hey, do you have Mrs. (insert teacher here)?"
One of the parties responded "yeah..."
"Did you do
that homework?"
"Yeah, do you need it...? " (hands paper over).

In the beginning, we only spoke when we needed homework, either one party or the other. As time went on, and we became more involved in sports and activites, the groups slowly closed in. From Four seats over to side-by-side. We didn't really intrude upon each others sides, but talked and somewhat kept some distance. Later, more intermengeling occured.
Josh Sampia came to Comeaux a little later. I don't remember why, but I don't believe he started right away. Why? What I do remember is he came out for the football team and was introduced as coming from another school or something. I belive he shared a few classes with Ben Pierce and thus joined his group... before us joining.
Somewhere along the line, Jason Erwing - he was probably walking along and noticed Justin Landry - also a reciever on the Freshman Football team, and said "hey man." He then spoke with John and I, offensive lineman. This became his regular spot. A note about him. Ben and I noticed he had a shirt he wore often, an Emmit Smith shirt (that was black) that had "E =  TD<squared>" on it. I noticed that Jason tended to act more "cool" than he really was, maybe in order to protect himself for some reason.Jason moved either in the end of our freshman year or the beginning of our spohomore year.
Sometime after we "joined" John's friends (of whom I sat with at lunch - Brandon Kershner, Jeb Bellard, Bobby Stander, and Ray and John (Ned) Guidry). They didn't stay but maybe two weeks, for they lived right near school so they just started coming later. Some of the group (Ben) didn't like them as much - of what I noticed. I believe this was because they came in and almost took over, being that they were sophomores.
As of our Freshman year the group consited of:
Ben Pierce
Brandon Meche
Justin Landry
John Keller
Josh Sampia
Jason Erwin
Daniel Racca (I think)
at some point (maybe from the beginning????) Matt Thibedeux joined the ranks too - he and Ben would have name that tune contest every morning.
and a few others I can't place at the moment... sorry
Sophomore year:
With the exception of Jason Erwin moving to Texas, our group stayed relativly the same.

At some point John left the group and started going to Brandon Kershner's (or one of the others in that group) house in the mornings.
Junior year... same.
Senior year:
additions... Holly Tracy, Billy Walker, (Ricky Molaison a freshman whom I brought home from practice), Daniel was for sure there, Matt Thibedeaux on rare occasions, and a few staglers here and there. Justin now became a vistor like member, mostly hanging out with the "ROTC" people - started while he was dating Cassadra. John Keller would visit every now and then, and talk to Holly and catch up with the rest of the group.
Leavers...

Brandon Meche - when he started dating Lynsey Wilcox
Justin Landry - tennis/dating Cassandra - as stated above.
John Keller - Sophomore or Junior year... started coming late
Jason Erwin - moved
The interesting thing was that even though Ben was dating Krissy Hollis our Senior year, he still hung out with us. I don't know if she came later or whatnot, but I thought that was cool. Most leave, but he didn't. Josh also did the same - stayed - when he was dating Casha ('Balla').
a note to those in the Morning Crowd... Please give me any info that I may have forgotten or have wrong.
