the Track Thing
The first time I ran for any period of time was my 7th grade year. I wanted to get into shape for a PE test we were having. I trained for about a month, topping out at 1 4.4 mile run in about 45 minutes. I was able to run a mile in about 7:45 I would guess. Instead of the test being as I had planned, 3-4 laps around a large field, it was 27 laps around a basketball court. Needless to say, that was NOT what I had trained for.
I lost a few pounds during the running, but decided to stop for it was hard work, and not nearly as much fun as riding my bike.  When football came around my 8th grade year, I was faster in sprints. It felt good to be lighter and in better shape. (though it was't from running).
My sophomore year came around and I started running track. I was not fast, nor in good shape. Slowly I trudged away at the miles. Starting out at a 14 something 2 mile, I worked it down to a 13:20. My best mile was around 6:25.
My junior year I started running cross country. I started off slowly, and eventually worked my way down to an honest 18:30 3 mile. In track I ran a 11:52 2 mile, and a 5:21 mile.
I continued on into my senior year where I worked overtime due to forgoing the summer training season. My best 3 mile in cross country was a 18:01, and I believe a 5:20 mile. When track came around, I eventually pr'd in the 2 mile with a 10:58, and a "technical" 5:18 mile (It was the ONLY time I ran the mile at an actual meet). From March 17 to May 1 I ran everyday, not missing a day. I started become dissatisfied with running due to a number of reasons. I needed a break, I worked really hard and wasn't able to at least try one other event, and I believe lack of sleep had started hurting my immune system - I was starting to get sick.
Over that summer I ran with Mrs. Robin Judice's (no relation that I know of) Team Peagasus, as a counslor/coach. I really enjoyed spending time "training" people. I think I will attempt to do so in the future.
