SYNOPSIS -  20 years down the memory lane they were casted as mother and daughter in Shekhar Kapoor's MASOOM. The movie is still ranked as class apart in Bollywood. Khalid Mohammed decides to reinvent the magic again only this time the little kid of MASOOM has grown to be Bollywood's icon Urmila. Khalid Mohammed means serious cinema and if FIZA spoke about the turbulent phase that a family underwent during Mumbai riots 1993, TEHZEEB speaks about the strangling relationships of a mother-daughter.

TEHZEEB carries a lot of pride with it. Apart from 20th Century Fox acquiring the film distribution rights; TEHZEEB has the beautiful Diana Hayden making her debut. The heart warming music of AR Rahman and not forgetting the screenplay and direction from the critic Khalid Mohammed. It's also special since Khalid would like to experiment with Shabana and Urmila as he did with Jaya Bachchan and Karishma Kapoor in FIZA.

Tehzeeb is Urmila's name in the movie eldest daughter to Ruksana (Shabana Azmi). Ruksana is a career-centered woman who has struggled to make her singing career. Her husband (Rishi Kapoor) has constant qualms with her. They also have a mentally challenged daughter in Nazneen (Diya Mirza) adding more to their woes. It so happens that Tehzeeb is very much in love with Arjun Rampal and looks after Nazneen very well.

Things take a u-turn when Rishi Kapoor dies and Tehzeeb blames Ruksana for his untimely death. She now has to decide as to leave her mom and go away or to adjust to the situation. Diana Hayden plays as a New York based publisher very much in love with Arjun Rampal. So what eventually happens? Does Tehzeeb leave Ruksana? What happens to Nazneen? Watch this space to know about it.

Arjun is back!  I missed seeing him soooo much.  Last time I saw him was in "Dil Ka Rishtaa." It was such a bad movie.  His character was annoying to me but he looked fine like always.  I must admit that my John Abraham obsession started after Arjun slowly was out the door cause I haven't seen him in a while.  Never did I start liking John more than Arjun, it was just because I haven't seen much of Arjun.  Plus there's going to be an overdose of John releasing too coming up with "Aetbaar," "Paap," and "Lakeer" just in a few months.  Woah!  Okay, back to John, oops I meant Arjun...hehehe.

Arjun has taken a lot of female oriented films lately especially back to back to back - "Dil Hai Tumhaara," "Dil KKa Rishtaa," and now "Tehzeeb."  It's nothing wrong to do so.  I just wish he wouldn't do them back to back to back because he has talent and I wish people would see that.  He was so cute and adorable in "Tehzeeb."  You just want to go and kiss him cause of his character.  He did that character so well also.  Even Urmila has mentioned in the behind the scenes, "Arjun's character is like every woman's dream husband."  That is sooo true!

Urmila is so underrated.  Even though she is critically acclaim for her performances in "Bhoot," "Pinjar," and "Tehzeeb."  She's still have not been given her credit.  I hope she finally gets recognize and an award too!  She's shown a lot of maturity within the past few years.  Not only showing her sexuality but also her talents onscreen.

Shabana is actually the show stealer of the movie.  She moves with ease and makes you laugh and cry with her.  Her character is more stable than Urmila's.  Even though you see the movie through Urmila's eyes, you'll see it through Shabana's later.  I hope Shabana gets a supporting role award but I think she will lose to someone this year.  Regardless, the movie is a must watch for Shabana.

Diya is really cute in the movie and looks pretty.  She doesn't do a bad job in the film.  Her voice is really childish and fits her but what I did not like about the movie is she did not even look like a mentally challenge person.  This is Diane's debut film and she does a horrible job in her short role.  Her voice is really deep and she didn't appear to look like the sexy types.  She looks totally different from her pictures.  After seeing this, I don't even think she's that pretty like I used to.  Namrata's short guest appearance was more worth watching than Diane's.

Overall, "Tehzeeb" is not the best film but it's definitely worth watching for the performances...and great songs (which came out of no where, okay most of them) What I didn't like about the film was Urmila's unstable character's condition.
