SYNOPSIS -  Munnabhai is a happy man. He lives with his gang in the bylanes of a 'dhobhi ghat' in Mumbai; takes pride in being a 'social worker' (they actually settle 'financial disputes' through dadagiri); and enjoys his booze, babes, brawls followed by a good night's sleep.  Not much bothers Munna except his parents' annual visit from the village.  Munna's father, Hari Prasad Sharma, an upright, moralistic man believes that his son is actually a doctor running a charity hospital. Every year, when his parents come arrive, Munna and his gang, bathe, shave, don while coats and stethoscopes and pretend to be diligent doctors.  This year, however, the clever charade falls apart.

Sharma runs into an old friend, Dr. Asthana, who has a daughter called Suman.  The two decide that their children, both doctors, would make a perfect match.  Munna tries hard to save the situation but his father discovers the truth.  And all hell breaks loose.  Hari Prasad Sharma, now broken by the truth, removes his whilte, spotless 'pagadi' and cries. Munnabhai then takes a decision that will change many lives; he decides to become a doctor.  Munnabhai MBBS is a hilarious and heart warming story of a local goon's journey into the medical world - a place he neither belongs to nor believes in. It is a classic story of the right man in the wrong place.

I love Sanju for his acting but I'm not the type that would rush to see every one of his films.  However, when I saw this film's trailer when I was watching "Kal Ho Naa Ho" in the theatre...I really wanted to see it.  Everyone in the audience was laughing out loud.  I was thinking wow, this film must really be funny.  Plus papa Sunil and son Sanju in a film together for the first time.  I remember reading that Shahrukh was original choice for the film.  SRK would've done great; however, he can't do every film that is given to him.  Sanju was totally overshadowed by Govinda both times in "Jodi No 1" and "Ek Aur Do    ."  This time in "Munnabhai MBBS," we can see Sanju's comedic performance.

Gracy is so beautiful in the film.  I wish she would do more roles that shows off her acting skills.  She is really talented.  She had a really good role in "Armaan" but was overshadowed by Preity Zinta.  Then afterwards, she just had "Gangajaal" which she did nothing in the film.  She has some scope in "Munnabhai MBBS" but anyone could have done her role.

Wow, Jimmy Shergill again.  It was great to see him.  Really missed him on screen.  Gosh, what is up with these "Mohabbatein" newcomers. We don't see much of them at all...they all do side roles and the lead roles that they do, the film don't do well.  "Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai" did well and both Jimmy and Uday were in the film along with Shamita's sexy dance number Sharara Sharara.  But still afterwards, they all disappeared too.  Jimmy did well in his short role.  I honestly forgot he was in the film.  It was a pleasant surprise to see him.

The storyline is different.  I really liked it.  The only thing I didn't like about the film is it's crazy tapori songs and Sanju looking a little too old for his role.  Other than that, the film was worth watching.
