He does extensive research and devices many instruments till he finally devises a computer that has the range to transmit messages to outer space. He uses the word AUM, which is supposed to be the first ever sound of the universe to establish contact with other life forms. His efforts finally bear fruit when he receives a response from outer space. He speaks to the scientists at the Space Research Centre in Canada, who ridicule him.

He is disheartened by their response but is encouraged by his pregnant wife Sonia, played by Rekha. One night as they return home, they see a bright light and spot a spaceship passing over them. Sanjay loses control over the car leading to an accident in which he loses his life. Sonia however manages to escape death.

Sonia now returns to India where her son Rohit is born. But Sonia's sorrows are not over. Affected by her fall, her son is born mentally retarded. He grows up to be a child trapped in the body of a man. Rohit lags behind in school and is teased and ridiculed by other boys. But there are a gang of six boys who love Rohit and they along with Preity (Nisha) decide to help him.

In his outhouse, Rohit discovers his father's old computer. Rohit decides to learn how to use the computer. Nisha agrees to help him learn. When they switch on the computer they are fascinated by some of the instructions which appear on the screen. When they follow the instructions they find the sound of AUM reverberating.. They don't realize the impact this is creating around them.

The next day the District Collector finds a huge crater which shows that a spaceship has landed there. The Collector is delighted and calls for a celebration. But thereafter he finds footsteps around the crater and wonders what they could mean? Is there an alien around? Is he dangerous? How will they find him?

Watch out for the first Sci-fi film in Hindi.

I've been waiting for this film for sooo long.  When it was first announced, I was just happy to hear Hrithik and Preity together again in a film.  They were just too cute together in "Mission Kashmir."  Then earlier this year, I found out that the movie was going to be a Sci-Fi film.  I was a little disappointed because I wanted to see Hrithik and Preity in a romantic film.  However, I was very curious to see the film because it was different.  Then I read somewhere that Hrithik's character is like Robin William's in "Jack."  From the movie stills, Hrithik looks funny because he was playing a mentally retarded kid. I couldn't see him in that way.  He's way too fine for a role like that...hehehe.  But it does show his versaility.

After watching this film, I am soooo in love with it.  I haven't loved a film this much since Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (and KKHH is suppose to be my fave Hindi film).  It just simply touched my heart. I didn't think the storyline would fly with with Bollywood but I was wrong.  This movie has everything - a good blend of romance (no not with the aliens, hehehe), mix with some drama, and comedy.

Who says Hrithik overacts and/or can't act?  Better think twice after watching "Koi...Mil Gaya."  He gives his best performance ever.  I am tired of people criticizing him because of daddy gave him a chance to act.  So what.  Just cause you're a star's son doesn't make you a great performer.  Hrithik's got it - looks, acting, and dancing!!!  I love his dancing.  He was just too adorable in that song, "It's Magic."  I love it!!  The Filmfare Award for the year 2003 will go to  Hrithik Roshan!

Preity Zinta is so gorgeous in the film.  She always had a sweet, innocent face but in "Koi...Mil Gaya," she looks stunning.  She has lost so much weight and wore beautiful clothing.  I would love to see more of Hrithik and her pairing in the future.  I'm tired of seeing him paired of with Kareena!  Yes, they look cute but more like siblings.  Preity does well in her role, like she always does.

Rekha is awesome in the film.  As a mother, I felt her pain in the movie.  She still looks so beautiful as she ages.  She is a perfect choice for the role.

I just love everything about Koi...Mil Gaya, especially the songs.  They are to listen to and choregraphed beautifully.  I watched it twice before returning it back to the rental place.  I will buy the movie too.  Not only did I enjoy it, my whole family did.  Yes, including my husband who rarely watches Hindi films.
