SYNOPSIS -  Boney Kapoor-produceed Khushi is the story of two young people who love each other but cannot bring themselves to speak out their hearts to one another.

Karan (Fardeen Khan) and Khushi (Kareena Kapoor) are miles apart from each other. Karan is born in Calcutta while Khushi is born in a small village called Chamoli in Gadhwal, UP.

Both Karan and Khushi come from different family backgrounds. While Karan is a modern guy who aspires to go to Canada to pursue higher studies, Khushi hails from a conservative family.

Khushi’s father (Amrish Puri) holds the view that girls should not study too much and get married and settle in domesticity at a young age. He even starts looking for a prospective groom who would be willing to be a Ghar Jamai.

Going against her domineering father’s wishes, Khushi takes admission in a Mumbai college. On the other hand, Karan too is unable to go to Canada and takes admission in the same college in Mumbai.

At the college, Karan and Khushi get to know each other through common friends. Unlike other love stories it is not a case of love at first site for the two. The two develop a gradual intimacy while bringing together two of their love-struck friends together.

Their intimacy matures into love but none is willing to express his or her emotions. Not until the time comes when the two find themselves on crossroads where their ways go in different directions.

What will happen next? Will the two move beyond their inflated egos and accept love for each other.

"Khushi" is a high budget film that gotten a lot publicity.  Fardeen and Kareena got cast together and then rumours started pouring in that the two are dating each other.  Who knows?  These rumours always start anyways.  If it was true, the stars will still deny it.  Then many months later, they will finally admit it.  I think Fardeen and Kareena look really good together on screen.  I like Fardeen's pairing with Urmi too but now I think he looks the best with Kareena.  I never liked Kareena's pairing with Hrithik - I thought it was so overrated, I hardly saw any chemistry.  They do have some kind of bond but more like siblings.  Kareena and Abhishe also look like siblings since he is dating her older sister.  But Fardeen and Kareena looks good together.  In addition, they both look the best in this movie.

A lot of girls went crazy for Fardeen after "Pyar Tune Kya Kiya," I thought he did look good in some scenes but I won't say I went crazy for him.  I do find him good looking at times but not hot.  His debut film "Prem Aggan" didn't do anything for him but directors still saw potential in him.  He was good in "Pyar Tune Kya Kiya," "Love Ke Kuch Bhi Karega," and "Om Jai Jagadish."  Not only is he improving on his acting but his dancing skill has gotten even better.  He was just too cute in "Khushi."  Although it was suppose to be more of a Kareena Kapoor film, I thought he stole the limelight more.

Kareena Kapoor has to be one of the most overrated actress of all times.  Sure she can act but she is very overrated.  Her acting is always not consistent.  She was really good in movies like "Refugee" and "Asoka."  Average in movies like "Mujhe Kucch Kehta Hai" and "Mujhe Dosti Karoge."  Overacted in movies like "Kabhi Kushi Kabhie Gham" and now "Khushi."  She looks great no doubt but her facial expressions for the upset and yelling parts was so fake.  She was good in the more emotional scenes.  She also needs to brush up on her dancing.  Sure she's no Madhuri Dixit or Aishwarya Rai but Kareena looked like she tried to hard to do the dance steps.

Storyline was different, not your typical masala movie...that's what I liked about it.  It was slow paced like "Mujhe Kucch Kehta Hai."  Maybe I would've enjoyed the movie even more without Kareena's overacting.  But then again, the conflict of the movie is very petty and can be overlooked but it's a story of who has the bigger ego, it seems like.

It's worth a watch cause it's different but just don't expect anything spectacular, even "Mujhe Dosti Karoge," "Dil Hai Tumhaara," and "Dil Ka Rishta" were more enjoyable to watch because of the songs.

Rating - 6.5 out of 10
