SYNOPSIS -

New York. April 2003. The late winter continues…

For Naina Catherine Kapur [Preity Zinta], life is cold, grey and dull – as it has been ever since a family tragedy shook her world.

Between the constant bickering in her half Punjabi, half Catholic household, her grand-mother's temper, looking after her little sister and brother and helping her mother Jennifer [Jaya Bachchan] deal with the family's financial troubles – Naina has no time for parties, fun or herself.

She is 23, going on 50. She is serious, she is boring.

Enter Aman Mathur [Shah Rukh Khan]. Like a whiff of fresh air, he moves into their tiny Indian neighbourhood to take it over, helping others solve their problems and face life's little challenges – Aman has all the answers.

Much to Naina's irritation, he insists on interfering in her life too…

Aman pushes Naina into doing things that she would never dream of doing. He nags her till she learns to smile. He conspires with friend Rohit [Saif Ali Khan], an eligible Manhattan bachelor, to help her find happiness.

KAL HO NAA HO is the story of Aman, Rohit and Naina's journey together. How they discover themselves, find the courage to love and come together to celebrate life.

I was not feeling "Kal Ho Naa Ho" from the start.  I was not sure why but it just didn't excite me.  No feelings like it did with "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" or even "Kabhi Kushi Kabhie Gham."  It could be that the movie was without Kajol.  The Shahrukh/Kajol jodi would just attract audiences no matter what the storyline would be.  But even I was more excited for "Chalte Chalte" than "Kal Ho Naa Ho."  I was really wrong about "Kal Ho Naa Ho."

Not only did this movie made me love it...but it is my fave movie of 2003.  I loved it even more than "Koi...Mil Gaya."  I praised "Koi...Mil Gaya" so much too.  I know some people did not enjoy "Kal Ho Naa Ho" more than Karan Johar's other "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" and "Kabhi Kushi Kabhie Gham" but I did...somewhat.

Shahrukh is good like always.  If he does any worse, people would put him down and make a mockery of him.  But he is consistent in what he plays, he portrays all his characters wonderfully.  Shahrukh is so versatile that I would like him to be that versatile person like he once was.  He knows what he is doing and still doing well at it.

I love Preity Zinta.  She is finally getting recognize for her talents....and thanks to a Johar film.  I really like her but I didn't like her character in "Kal Ho Naa Ho."  Plus I think her pairing with Shahrukh is odd.  I like her more with Saif.

Saif is really good.  Love this guy more and more.  He's really good but I can't see him play the lead role anymore because after "Dil Chahta Hai" and "Na Tum Jano Na Hum," all I can see him play are the supporting roles.  I hope after "Ek Hasina Thi" and "Hum Tum" will change that for me!

I can go on and on about this movie cause I loved it a lot.  There are so many scenes that were very funny and emotional. The music is really good after you watch the movie.  I love each one of the songs.  My fave one to watch has to be "Maahi Ve."  Oh yeah, everyone knows about Kajol and Rani's special appearance since Karan loves those two ladies.  They are his good luck charm.  He can not do a movie without them or have a movie not begin with the letter "K" and have 4 words in the title.  Rani had more screen appearance than Kajol because she was dancing but Kajol was pregnant at the time but you can see she still had so much chemistry with Shahrukh.

Uday's appearance was a blink and you miss him.  Sonali was good in her role.  She's still so beautiful.  She gained a little weight but still looks good and like she's still 21.  She even looked younger than Preity and Rani!  Sanjay was cute in his short role.  I like him more now after "Shakti."  Simone was so gorgeous in the movie.  I've never seen her that glamorous before!

Overall, this is a MUST see film.  If you haven't seen this film, you have to, otherwise, you're missing out!
