SYNOPSIS Jism is the story of a woman who uses her beauty and body to seduce a young man and later manipulate him into killing her aged husband.

Kabir Lal (John Abraham) is a restless fellow. A reckless and alcoholic lawyer, Kabir has a streak for self-destruction.

His world is turned topsy-turvy after a chance encounter with Sonia Khanna (Bipasha Basu). Sonia is a young, sensuous and dangerously ambitious wife of a middle-aged industrialist Rohit Khanna (Gulshan Grover).

Sonia reforms Kabir, plays with his emotions and titillates him. Kabir, in his turn, is madly drawn towards her. The sexual chemistry between the two intensifies until the duo decide that they cannot live separately and thereby decide to ‘bump off’ Sonia’s millionaire husband.

The plan is successfully executed. But things get murky when they were supposed to be clearer. Reason? Sonia begins to display her darker shades and it doesn’t take long for Kabir to realize that he has been used as a pawn in her hands.

"Jism" faced a lot of controversies because of the bold theme - sex - that it took.  The music already have topped the charts.  Whether it's  Jadoo Hai Nasha Hai, Awaarapan Baanjapan, or ...the movie soundtracks definitely is worth buying.

No matter who tries to boycott "Jism", just like how they did to "Ek Chottosi Love Story," people will always rush to see the film - sometimes making the movie turn into a hit because of the curiousity.  But "Jism" is no "Ek Chottosi Love Story," "Jism" is actually a good movie to watch with a plot with great acting and a hummable soundtrack.

You would think the movie was more of a Bipasha movie, sure she has a shady character but the movie belonged entirely to John Abraham.  He is so damn good for a hot model turned actor.  Just like Arjun Rampal and Priyanshu Chatterjee, John shows he can act.  John steals the limelight even from Bipasha.  Arjun didn't have a great debut film...things might have been different if "Moksha," the original debut film for Arjun actually released on time.  As for Priyanshu, he can act but there were a lot of other supporting characters in his debut "Tum Bin."  In John's case, it's different, he clearly performance so brilliantly.  His character went through so many emotionally changes.  You can feel his pain.  On top of it all, he is so hot in the movie.  He had several shirtless scenes but I don't think he went overboard.  If you got the body, go ahead and show it off.

That goes the same for Bipasha.  She has played the sexy character in most of her films - "Ajnabee," "Aankhen," and "Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai."  In "Raaz," she looked good but her character didn't require her to look or be sexy....although she still looked great.  Of all the newcomers, I think Bipasha is the best - yes, including Kareena Kapoor and Amisha Patel, even Gracy Singh (where is she by the ways?)  What I like most about Bipasha is her unique look - she is dark skinned and her eyes are a little slanted like an "oriental."  Sure she looks good, that's why she's a ramp model but most ramp models can not act but Bips already proved that she can.  She is known to be the next sexy star after Zeenat Aman.  Bips impoves in each and every one of her films.  Her characters are all different even though they all seem to be "sexy" that's it.

Gulshan Grover didn't have much to do in the film but he did fit his character.  I am so used to seeing him as a villian so just seeing him on screen; you can kind of sense what kind of character he plays.

Storyline - it's suppose to be a remake of "Double Indemnity," a 1944 Hollywood hit film.  I know there are remakes after remakes after remakes but hey, if you can pull it off well, then go ahead.  That doesn't mean I would like an "original" storyline soon but there aren't much original anything out there.

By watching the trailers, you will get a different idea of what the movie is about - sex, sex, and more sex.  It's nothinng of that sort and isn't as bad as it may look.  You have to watch the movie to make your own judgment.  I really liked the movie.  It's better than the crap movies that are coming out and so far, the best movie of 2003.  (Watched in late March 2003)

Rating - 8.5 out of 10
