Computer Technology is helping improve the educational system

It is said the most important scientific fulfillment of human in 20th century is the invention of computer which has greatly changed and will continue to change our society in every aspect. Education system is inevitably changed by introduction of computer system, however, the question is just that ¡°does computer really help the education system or do the opposite way?¡±

In my opinion, computer is like a sharp knife with two blades which can be a great tool or a killing weapon. It all depends on how you use it. So does computer! When computer is used properly, its remarkable features help a lot in many fields of education system. The examples are just too many to count, such as that the inter-activation and multi-media capability help the early education for infants, the network communication greatly reduces cost of education for remote areas and people living in vast, spreading area, and what¡¯s more provides an opportunity for sharing limited education resources such as famous professors, laboratory equipments, libararies etc. The introduction of internet technology even helps computer play a greater role in education system. Nowadays no university can operate without computer or internet. Internet helps to replace traditional communication methods such as fax, mails with more efficient communication methods like e-mail, net-meeting and so on. And libraries now are more convenient to be accessed with internet, thus information resources are used with more efficiency.

Nevertheless, we also observe many negative outcomes with introduction of computer and internet. There are statistics showing that more and more students are poor in arithmetic and handwriting as they are more and more dependant on computer to do the calculation and word processing. Information is much easier for students to acquire compared with their older generation. By clicking mouse and typing of keyboard, they can get solution for almost any question, then basic thinking ability is deprived by lack of patience and attention. Their interest is more and more attracted to fast-moving, meaningless visual and audio impulse which may in near future lead to decrement of brain-power due to lack of usage.

So, we are facing this menacing question----¡°Is computer technology helping the education system?¡± As the effects are mixed, the answer is also mixed. However, being practical enough, nobody can deny that we, human will more and more depend on computer and internet. Then since we cannot reject them, the only way is to accept them, but with a proper way. Still there are a lot of things that we can do. For example, limit accesses to computer and internet by children.

Stress the importance of human¡¯s brain capability without help of computer and internet. And so on. New problems continually prop up, yet solutions are definitely able to find out.
