The Last Crossroad

Standing at the crossroad
To great a choice to make
Maybe I'll guess which path to walk
Or maybe I'll just wait
Yes, maybe I'll just wait

I met a man here at the crossroad, quite old, and rather gray
He told me that just for a penny; he'd show me the way

"One path," he said, "Is drowned in mist, a curse on every day
By thickened air and broken ground would lead you to your grave

Standing at the crossroad
To great a choice to make
Maybe I'll guess which path to walk
Or maybe I'll just wait
Yes, maybe I'll just wait

The other, friend, is bathed in sun, of color, bright and full
Of women, music, and good fortune, the way you want to go."

The choice was clear, an easy task, but a pennyI had none
"I've spent my money, forgive me sir, " and with this he was gone

Standing at the crossroad
To great a choice to make
Maybe I'll guess which path to walk
Or maybe I'll just wait
Yes, maybe I'll just wait
