On Such a Perfect Night

The night is being cheated
By all the city's lights
Imagine how the stars should look
On such a perfect night
A reddened glow cast over stars
Across the winter sky
Who needs to see the stars tonight
When looking in your eyes

I suppose this is all wrong
Though it somehow feels right
Just gazing here with you
On such a perfect night
So it's a little cold
So there's not a star in sight
These things are not a bother
On such a perfect night

The night is being cheated
By the breeze's bitter bite
Imagine how sweet the air should feel
On such a perfect night
Our fingers getting colder
By the air's numbing embrace
Who needs to feel their fingers
When warmed by your sweet face

I suppose this is all wrong
Though it somehow feels right
Just gazing here with you
On such a perfect night
So it's a little cold
So there's not a star in sight
These things are not a bother
On such a perfect night
