Dark and Heavy Blues
by Jimmy Higgins

I see you from a distance
Through the dark and heavy blue
The moon alone bears witness
To our midnight rendezvous
We meet and speak without a sound
All else is cast aside
And in your ear with whispered words
My love I do confide

There's not a soul for miles
And my thoughts are of no other
I lay here looking on the stars tonight
Beside my midnight lover

Though daylight casts a hindrance
On our fragile blooming love
The stars shine bright and serve
As incubation from above
And in the midst of darkness
A pure translucent light
Illuminates our footsteps and
We know not day or night

There's not a soul for miles
And my thoughts are of no other
I lay here looking on the stars tonight
Aside my midnight lover
No there's not a soul for miles
And my thoughts are of no other
I lay here looking on the stars tonight
Beside my midnight lover
