Beach (Wake)

Oh in nineteen seventy nine
You said that we ran out of time
Packed your bags, bid farewell
My chest is my hearts cell

Tried to sleep, tried to write
Smelled your perfume, missed your sight
The waves don't roll the same anymore
You are better off than you were before

But lady, oh lady
Any name and you'd still be my baby
I look to the stars so I can see your eyes
And hope that they will meet again with mine in time
But where are you when I need a smile
To sit you down so we can talk a while
I walk along the shore and I try to reach
Maybe one day I will find your beach

Well a beach, is a happy place
In the wake I see your face
Throw my body in the sand
As time drifts up over the land

I fall fast asleep
Tide rising up beneath my feet
Drag me into the land below
To meet with the world that I do not know

I guess that I'll never wake
As years have passed and I'm still here
Deep within the ocean floor
Where light will never peer

But these were once our waters
The beaches of which we play
Although I sleep forever more
We will soon have our day

But lady, oh lady
Any name and you'd still be my baby
I look to the stars so I can see your eyes
And hope that they will meet again with mine in time
But where are you when I need a smile
To sit you down so we can talk a while
I walk along the shore and I try to reach
Maybe one day I will find your beach
