The people we take for granted are those so close,

and when they leave this world, they're the ones we miss the most.

So cherish each day you have with the ones you love,

because you never know when they'll be in heaven above.

Each day you have a chance to say your "I love yous,"

but you can also be harsh, it's up to you to choose.

So make this choice I hold before you, on this very day;

because the person people will remember, is who you are today.

With all my loved ones in the past that have been laid to rest,

it's all the insignificant little things, that I remember best.

The stuff no one cared about when they were still around,

is what people tend to miss when they are lying in the ground.

You don't know how much they mean until they are not here,

but when they're gone, you forget the bad and only remember the cheer.

The things I learned from those who came before,

Only left my eyes wide open to what's in store.

You learn so much from your elders if you just sit down and listen.

So hang around and talk with them, because you'll never know what you're missing.

I'm glad I had a chance to share so many fond memories,

because that is what keeps the roots growing on our Family Trees...
