HelpX
Help Exchange (HelpX) is an online listing of host farms, farmstays, lodges, ranches, B&B's, inns, backpackers and even sailboats who invite volunteer helpers to stay with them short term in exchange for food and accomodation.
We have been a HelpX farm since June 2006 and find it an ideal way to meet people from all over the world.
We are laid back in our general approach to life while being hard workers in our profession.
You are guaranteed a warm welcome in a friendly family atmosphere.  The work may
sometimes be hard but you will be given not only the opportunity to learn new experinces but to also relax in and soak up the beautiful countryside.

If you are interested in staying with us then please read through our guidelines.

GUIDELINES

We ask 4 hours of work a day in exchange for Board and Food.
The work varies from farmwork to work in the garden and house, some examples are:
Feeding calves, fencing, moving stock
Water blasting buildings and/or machinary
Gardening, weeding, landscaping, mowing lawns etc.
Decorating
Housework, cleaning, cooking etc.

Accomodation is a private double bedroom in the mainhouse, you share the bathroom with the rest of the family.

General tidying up and washing up of dishes is something that we all share and you will be expected to help out too.

We travel into town (Taupo) at least once a week and can pick helpers up from there by prior arrangement.

There is internet access for emailing

Non smokers only

We can accommodate certain dietary requirements but Vegans and strict vegetarians are not encouraged to stay.

Help Exchange also recommends that helpers sign a guestbook on arrival and show suitable identification such as your passport.
