HISTORY
Safeco Field's retractable roof is one of a kind. It is designed to cover, but
not enclose the ballpark, and preserve an open-air environment. The park also
features one of the best scoreboard systems in MLB, including 11 electronic
displays and an old-fashioned hand-operated scoreboard in left field.
FIELD
A natural grass custom blend of four types of Kentucky bluegrass and two kinds
of perennial ryegrass. This combination is to provide the optimal playing
surface for the athletes, the retractable roof, and the Northwest climate.
Safeco Field has also ranked first in overall attendance in 2001 and 2002!
