Francis L. Mills
 
(Fire Fighter - Charter Member)
Died at age 76 on Febuary 6, 2005  while off duty 

Francis L. Mills, 76, of Ro-ki Blvd., entered into his heavenly home on Sunday, February 6, 2005. A lifelong resident of Nichols, he was born on March 2, 1928, a son of the late Francis Archie and Clara (Olmstead) Mills. He was also predeceased by his twin brother, Frederick A. Mills. Chan is survived by his loving and devoted wife of nearly 55 years, Arlene (Thetga) Mills; his daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Paul Campolieta, Fulton, N.Y., Susan and Col. Stephen Hill, Pittsburgh, Pa.; his sister, Patricia McCarthy; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen (Mills) and Vern Shores, all of Nichols; his special grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Campolieta, Sara Anne Campolieta and Stephen Ross Hill; his uncle, Earl Olmstead; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and cousins also survive. Chan, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, was a graduate of Nichols High School Class of 1945. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. For many years, he owned and operated Thetga Farm Supply in Nichols and was also a Prudential Agent for 13 years. He was a member of the Nichols Fire Dept. and served as Captain for the Nichols Emergency Squad. Chan was also a member of the Nichols United Methodist Church, Westbrook Masonic Lodge #333 F.&A.M. and the Nichols American Legion. Chan was an avid gardener, enjoyed hunting, cooking and especially enjoyed visiting with everyone at Masonic Dinners and at the former Cole's Service Station in Nichols.

THOMAS J. CRANNELL, JR. (Fire Commissioner)
Died at age 59 on June 19, 2001 while off duty 

THOMAS J. CRANNELL, JR. of Nichols, New York, went to be with his Lord on June 19, 2001. Tom was born on October 14, 1941 in Johnson City, a son of the late Thomas J. Crannell Sr. and Kathryn (Dewitt) Crannell. Tom is survived by his wife of 25 years, Barbara (Brown) Crannell; daughter and son-in-law, Tamara and Paul Lentini, Toledo, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Tammy Cornett, Binghamton; grandchildren, James, Jessica and Jazmine Cornett; brothers, James Crannell, Endicott and Jerome Crannell, El Sugendo, Calif.; sister, Kathleen (Robert) Schroeder, Yorba Linda, Calif.; and long time friends, Stan and Jan Gillmeister; an aunt, Anna Donlin, Montrose, Pa.; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Tom was a maintenance mechanic for the Tioga County Building and Grounds Dept., and would have retired on July 31, 2001 following 25 years of service. He was a life member of the Wappasening Hose Company where he served faithfully for over 20 years where he was a Lieutenant, past Assistant Fire Chief and Safety Officer. He taught 5th grade fire prevention for the past 14 years at Tioga Central School. He was also a member of the Tioga County Fire Investigation Team, served on board of Fire Commissioners and on the board of Tioga County Commission on Alcohol and Substance Abuse (TCCOASA). He was also a member of the Nichols/RoKi Community Club.
