PSP 4.12 Tutorials

Please note that for this Tutorial I have included all the tools that are needed except the Filter Factory Gallery A, Weave. If you don't have this particular Plugin go to PC Resources and download it now, Filter Factory Galleries. The instructions for installation are also included at this site.

  1. Choose your colors. Set Foreground Color to White (255, 255, 255) and Background Color to Green (R-0 G-121 B-61). Open a new file 100 x 100 pixels with the background set for Background Color and choose 16.7 million colors.

  2. From the Tool Palette select the "Air Brush" tool and make sure the Style Bar is set for Size-200, Shape-Square, Opacity 20, and Paper Texture - Medium Bricks. Position the Dropper in the center of the image and hold down the left mouse button until the bricks are a light shade of green.

  3. Open a Texture Image and make sure it is set for 17 million colors. "Select" Colors|Increase Color Depth|17 million colors.

  5. From the Tool Palette select "Flood Fill" and make sure the Style Bar is set for RGB Value, Tolerance 10, and Pattern. Choose Options and when the Define New Pattern Window opens, select the Textured Pattern and click OK. Using the "Paint Bucket" fill each brick. It might be a good time to make a copy of the filled brick image by clicking Copy|Paste from the "Tool Bar". The copy is only a backup, we don't want to have to do this step over again.
  6. Using "Selection" from the Tool Palette set for Rectangle, Feather 2, select the right border of your Brick Image making sure the Status Bar (bottom left of window) displays (95,0) (100,100)=(5 x100). Now click Image "Plug In Filters|Filter Factory Gallery A|Weave". Set the Weave Dialog Box to Size 14, Red 25, Green 164, Blue 25, Transparency 230 and click OK.

  7. While the Image is still selected click Image "Special Effects|Add Drop Shadow". Set Attributes to to Color-Black, Opacity-255, Blur-36, V=0 H=-2 and click OK.

  8. Set the "Color Bar" to Foreground Color Green and Background Color White. (Just reverse the colors that are already set). Choose "Image|Enlarge Canvas" to 1030 x 100, click OK. With the "Magic Wand" select the Text Area.

  9. Open a Texture Image. From the Tool Palette select "Flood Fill" and make sure the Style Bar is set for RGB Value, Tolerance 10, and Pattern. Choose Options and when the Define New Pattern Window opens, select the Textured Pattern for your text area and click OK. Using the "Paint Bucket" fill the text area.
