| Agaeus the Greecian, eldest member of the Council of Elders, and Master in his own right over a large group of fledglings, one of the largest Greecian strongholds in the vampiric world to be exact, was sitting alone in his tomb one dark evening, reflecting on his accomplishments. He was one of the most hated, most feared of all vampires. Nothing could stand in his way. He had recently done it. It was extremely foolish he knew, but it had made a big difference in the amount of respect that he had gotten in the vampiric world, from his own fledglings and from other vampires that were to ignorant to know the difference. His own master Lycius the Great had stepped into the sun, and he truly believed he was relatively safe in making the assertion, false though he knew it was. What was this foolish thing the Greecian had done? Agaeus had mad a claim that he knew full well was false and punishable by death. He had claimed to be the source of all vampires. Older vampires who knew it was a farce like Mekar the Romanian who was almost as old as he was just sighed, telling him that he had better be prepared for the judgement that was to come. While he was in the middle of basquing in his ill gotten fame and fortune, Thaddeus, the demon at the right hand of Armand just walked into his tomb and made himself at home. He sat down across from Agaeus, his beautiful black wings poised arrogantly, triumphantly, threateningly. "What are you doing in my tomb?" Agaeus demanded. "I just wanted to see you for myself, Agaeus, the source of us all. Has a real nice ring to it doesn't it?" He said sarcastically. Agaeus got up intending to make a run for it. "Sit down!!!" Thadeus commanded. "You are a worthless excuse for a vampire, Agaeus!" Agaeus looked into the eyes of Thaddeus. Something about him was different. The way he commanded respect instilled absolute terror, the cold heartless exterior. This was not Thaddeus. He looked him in the eye and his look seemed to be a response to his questioning. It seemed to be an affirmation that yes I am not Thaddeus, the demon who can rip you to shreds. I am the one, I am he who can end your existence with a single thought. But I choose this form because I know how much you fear it. "What do you want from me?" He asked, visibly trembling now, the fear that had gripped his heart was unlike anything he had ever known. If his suspicions were correct, then he had made a very grevious error and he was about to pay for it with his life. "I demand your mastery under the Old Code!!!" He said. Agaeus did as the law dictated, and fell to his knees before him. Then he asked this: "To whom shall I give it?" "To me!" These words, the ritualistic words sent a wave of terror throughout him. These were words that only an Elder had the right to speak to anyone. It was a confirmation of that thing he had most feared. This was not Thaddeus standing before him. It was the Master, the source of them all, the man he had claimed to be. Agaeus understand the implications of this. He knew he was going to die now, without mercy. The best he could hope for was a swift death and so he begged: "At least kill me quickly." He got his response as his master, the source of them all used the demonic form he had assumed to rip Agaeus to shreds. The last thing Agaeus saw was the cold relentless look in his eyes, the look which was vaguely familiar, and with his last moments of awareness before darkness claimed him forever, he realized that it was the eyes that had been different. aguely familiar, though he could not think of where he had seen them before, not that it really mattered now. Amaeus, son of Agaeus and his eldest fledgling had seen the entire altercation, along with Lydia, the woman he had made his wife, the woman his father had stolen from him years ago while he was still a mortal. They were both scared out of their minds. "Thaddeus" turned to them, the only surviving fledglings of Agaeus, the only ones who were old enough not to perish as he did. "Learn from this experience Little Ones, when it comes certain things I am without mercy." He said as he walked past them out the door. |
