James the Elder
I am James the Elder,  Bloodmaster of the vampires of London. I have two fledglings, Christopher the eldest, and young David Michaels. Christopher and I made him together.
Christopher does a fairly good job of dealing with the vampire politics, something I have chosen not to take part in, although it is my right.
If only he was half as good of a sire as he was a Councilman, perhaps David would not constantly be getting himself into trouble for going on these crusades of his.
I have created quite an empire for myself, but one would think I haven't noticed this fact.
Even though  I only made two vampires,  Christopher and David, and although David has vowed never to make another, Christopher's and his fledglings have become very powerful, and they serve me faithfully.
I am forbidden to make anymore vampires, but that is a long story. Christopher and I have found a way around this. Because I cannot turn anyone else, he does it for me.
After all, the Old Code of Vampiric  Law,  an Ancient set of laws supposedly  instituted by the First, which has created this predicament for me, is quite specific in this point. I cannot give my blood to another. But it does not say I cannot have anyone else turn someone for me.
I am a vampire not under Council jurisdiction. Christopher, on the other hand, because of when and where he was made is not.
Being a vampire of the free world has its advantages. I do not have to be a Council Puppet like Chris. But at the same time, I must follow the laws when I enter their territiory or I can be punished just like any other vampire.
And when I am punished it will be more  harshly. One of the disadvantages of being a vampire of the free world. The Council puppets are jealous of my freedom, and would do anything they could to see me fall, so I have to be very careful when I enter Council Territory.
I am a man with as many friends as I have enemies. But this is not unusual for a Bloodmaster. I take it all in stride, remembering what my own master once said, keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
