Doppel-Ganger
It was two o'clock in the morning when Kara awakened from what had been a relatively peaceful
slumber. She had sensed the presense of another immortal, and immediately awoke, even though she wanted to crawl back under the covers, because as she had learned after nearly 4,500 years of being alive, that if you valued your gift of immortality, you would not ignore that funny feeling when it came to you, no matter what time of day it was.
She immediately reached for the touch tone lamp. No sooner had she done that then the silver-bladed sword came whistling out of the air at her, towards her unguarded neck. She rolled of the bed grabbing her sword from where it lay sheathed beneath the bed. Then with stealth and speed, she pulled her self up from the ground.
He opponent swung viciously at her again, but missed, knocking over a very expensive vase and shattering it into a million pieces.
At that point, Kara was wide awake. She reciprocate with a ferocity and determination to get away from this immortal, whoever he or she was.
They exchanged a few more blows before her attacker vanished, slipping out the back door into the night just as easily as he or she had slipped in, leaving a very pissed off Kara standing there. It was at that moment that she noticed that the intruder had killed her cat and left it lying on the front porch.
Whoever it was had crossed the line with Kara, and when she discovered who it was, she was going to make them pay for it.
