The Council of Elders is made up of twelve influencial blooddrinkers who have the right to pass judgement on the vampires who occupy there territory. Here is a list of the twelve. The thirteenth member was traditionally a hybird vampire until the Council ways changed dramatically in the early eighth century. An immortal liason (non-bloodrinking) represented the interests of the prey, because human beings would have to be replaced to often and were too tempting to the vampires that sat on the council.
The twelve, one female and twelve men, and all purebred vampires, operate under the motto "Justic for All," but it is a farce. Their idea of justice is cruelty, and preferential treatment based on social standing. Their favorite pastime is roasting marshmellows over the dead flesh of other vampires. They draw straws to determine who will punish the guilty. The condemned keeps their fingers crossed. If they are lucky Lenore will be chosen and she will banish them, but if they are fresh out of luck Omar or Kastagair will be chosen, which means certain death. |
