Dogged for Sympathy Live at Champlain College in 1990'....

NICHOLAS MARKER

Biography

Nicholas Marker is a project. What`s behind this project is simply just one musician doing it all by himself. In a world where individualism is quickly becoming the trend, altering the 90's from the age of Rock 'n' Roll groups to the one man band, Nicholas Marker was created. Nicholas Marker, the untimate reality, the sensational coming of age music incorporating mixtures of techno-industrial-noise. A loud sound going beyond the limits of electronic noise to the extreme of techno, while keeping an industrial sound. And this is only the beginning...

Who is Nicholas Marker? Introducing a young up-and coming sound recording artist, setting the pace in the alternative music scene. Marker is a guitarist and an accomplished synthesizer programmer. He is the outcome of modern day technology. Through the use of keyboards and samplers, Marker reaches into the fax extremities of his imagination to bring you a new style of music. Nicholas Marker began playing music on the organ at the early age of ten. For two years, he studied the theory in music and performed his first live concert at the age of eleven in his hometown of Valleyfield, Quebec, Canada. Shortly after, he realized that his main interest did not lie in studying music and playing the organ. At the age of seventeen he bought his first electric six-strings and formed a local band called L.C.D.(Danny Strong, Nicholas Marker, Peter Deevo), which performed a series of five entertaining shows. The band later broke-up.

In early September of 1990, Marker joined a band called DOGGED FOR SYMPATHY. Marker and bass player-singer-keyboard programmer Alexander Wheill, composed together up to ten songs, that were for the most part, experimental. Together they played live concerts with other bands for the Champlain College Music Festival. Their music was a mixture of cyberpunk-rock. Later, the critics* described Dogged For Symapathy as very original and "delicious". The year 1991, Son Of Sky was created by Marker with the long awaited release of "The Last Generation"**; An album that was four years in the making in which Welcome to the Future made it in the compilation compact disc DEMO DE LUXE #3, which was released in Quebec, Canada, and Europe. The song was mixed and engineered by Luc St-Pierre on Quark Records. To hear or purchase a Son of Sky Greatest's Hits Collection Vol. 1 & 2, go to www.mp3.com/sonofsky .

In 1994, that's when Marker met Steve Richard. Sharing the same ideals and ambitions the formed THE SON OF SKY. THE SONS OF SKY's debut cassette release, "Industrial Sex Machine" never made it on any label. Shortly after, the band broke up. There wasn't any managerial direction in the style of music that they wanted to create. In the mist of time, Son of Sky was reborn for "Unviolent"**, 2nd cassette release. In 1995, Marker answered an ad in Montreal's own independent newspaper, The Mirror, joined Anthony "Black" Raimondo and Triss to form DIVE THE NILE a gothic sound, influenced in the lines of The Cure. A long learning process for Marker since the band spent almost two years creating over five songs and only two were ever recorded. Again, lots of ideas but no musical direction. The year 1996, very unproductive, Marker joined Patrizio Pelliciotta in the idea to create a new duo. A demo tape of Pelliciotta was given to Marker, two weeks later and Pelliciotta was deceased. Marker took his courage and created with samples of the demo a heart-ache song called Suicide Day. This ended Son Of Sky was we know it with the killer song called Dead.

The year 1997 was beginning with a new sound and direction with Nicholas Marker, My B-movie Queen, a new song and album is to be released one day.... Near the end of 1997, Marker joined back with past collaborator Alexander Wheill of Dogged For Sympathy to re-create a new sound, a new tour and a new album. Nicholas Marker was signed with WRECK AGE RECORDINGS a small independently owned distribution outlet, to release under a new banner HOLOSKANKS. The album Pornaudiophy is an explicit techno-noise oriented sound. Back by popular demand, Marker was asked to record a track called Pornoism on the latest Wreck Age release; "A Cosmic Noise Compilation Volume 2: More Noise Byte Collective". The song is contreversial, disturbing and not to be missed... Another year went by, 1999, Marker released 3 new tracks called UNTRA TEEN RATED for the Cosmic Noise Compilation Vol 3: 1999 The noise apocalypso!. This time exploring techno, disco and trip-hop grooves and teenage obsession. In december 1999, just before the Y2k Millenium bug, Marker release an EP single remix album as a teaser for the upcoming full lenght album BUBBLE GUM TEEN TEASER, the EP is called PROTEEN: NEW SEX SCENES REMIXES. The EP contains 4 tracks for the most part techno-noise-break-beat super explicit style. Just on the corner nearby, the year 2000 is arriving and Marker is undoubtly the only master of Porno-Audio in Canada, and maybe in the World!

Around June 2000, Marker released a second album entitled Bubble Gum Teen Teaser. According to Wreck Age Recordings head cheeze's Alexander Wheill, 'It's the best!'. This time around the album is more Techno, made for the Raves and Dance clubs, but in reality offensivity is part of the background/foreground noise! It reaches exploitation of Teens' addictions to the limits of depravity. The album is release through Wreck Age on CD-R atWreck Age Recordings

After this release, Marker was undoubtful to make another album under Holoskanks, for now Marker has long overdue guitar works with DFS' upcoming album Phase 2: Recloned and a solo album with a new direction/sound.
