[Degenerated by The Lone Rangers begins to play.  Gene Sutherland is seen standing in front of the podium once again.   The second part to the Nic Totopoulous story is about to begin.]

Man - Welcome everyone once again to the second half of this biography of Nic Totopoulous.  Last time we looked at Nic's rise to stardom on a professional level.  We looked at Nic Totopoulous the wrestler.   Well folks, today we are going to look at Nic Totopoulous the person.  I'm Gene Sutherland.

As was previously mentioned, Nic Totopoulous competed in amateur wrestling as a student in high school.  He was a very dominant wrestler and seemed to be unstoppable.  He was everything any person wanted to be.  He was a great athlete, he had good grades, and the girls literally hung off of him everywhere he went.
 

 

Then he got himself involved in professional wrestling.  Right away he was afraid that he would be too small for the business.  Right away he thought he wouldn't be able to make the big time because of his lack of size.  This got him involved in steroids.  He was heavily involved with some of the most potent steroids out there right from the start.  He worked out hard in the gym to gain the size, and it was coming.  When he went to TNT Wrestling the first time around he felt it was because of his size, and not because of his in ring ability, or because he was good on the mic.  He continued to take the steroids unconsciously for a while.

Steroids though wasn't the only thing that he was involved in.  After he joined TNT Wrestling he was introduced to pain killers.  He was feeling sore all of the time, and the steroids and the working out was only making the pain worse.  So he started to take the pain killers.  He only took them a little at first, but then he felt a need for them.

Nic - My pain was excruciating.  I couldn't handle the pain.  So I turned to something that I knew other wrestlers were using, and that was pain killers.

Not too long after he was using more than the prescribed amount of pain killers.  Nic Totopoulous was abusing the pain killers.   He did not know it yet, but he was addicted.  He only thought that it was his tough luck.  He only thought that he was being hurt more and more every time he was in the ring.

Before I knew it I had a really bad addiction.  Then there was the back injury in TNT.  I really did a number on my back one night and I took more than ever that day.  That became the norm for me.   I thought that I needed to keep taking them to keep the pain down.  All along the pain had gone away and I didn't know.

Shadow - Nic hid it very well.  I had no idea that he was in that kind of pain.  I don't think that anyone did.  As for the steroids, we couldn't prove it.  He passed all of the tests we ran.   He covered it very well.

Nic's addiction only got worse from there.  TNT seemed to be getting closer to proving what Totopoulous was up to, so he left TNT and jumped to rival company Net Championship Wrestling.  There he had a clean slate.  No one knew about his addictions or his steroid use.  In NCW no one seemed to care what Totopoulous did.  He was able to take steroids, take his pain killers, and even take up a few more bad habits.
 

 

He started abusing illegal drugs soon after his entrance to NCW.  It helped him to cope with the pressure of being a pro wrestler.  It also helped him with the pain he was feeling.  He began using Marijuana, and that soon turned to cocaine.  Nic used prostitutes as well as using many women for sex after shows in his hotel room.  Nic Totopoulous was a mess, and he knew it.

When I went to NCW I could do whatever I wanted.  This is probably the lowest point in my entire career.  I did all sorts of drugs, I took the pain killers, and I took the steroids to stay big.  I really was a mess.  Everyone there was into the drugs as well.  They helped to supply me with whatever I needed.  It was very corrupt, and because of that the company started to really fail.

Then Nic Totopoulous decided that he was getting too close to the edge in NCW, and he saw the way it was failing.  He left the company and tried to go back to TNT Wrestling.  At first they wouldn't let him back because of the problems he had.  The staff knew full well he had problems.

I couldn't do anything.  I had no job, and I was addicted to everything under the sun.  I didn't know why I couldn't go back, they just said no.  That led me to drinking on top of everything else.  I am lucky I didn't die during that stretch.  I was weird too because in High School I was a straight edge.  I didn't do anything, and I was always very against it, and I had decided that I would never do it either.  It was tough.
 

 

Then after a while, Nic went back and tried to get back in.  TNT resisted at first, but good friend of his Blader Skum helped out his buddy.

Blader Skum - I told them to let him back in.  I told them that he would probably die if he didn't get back in.

So TNT complied and rehired Nic on a condition.  Nic had to go into rehab, and compete on TV.  TNT paid for his rehab as well.  This was difficult as you can imagine for Nic.  He started his rehab, and he was competing at the same time.

They didn't give me all the dates that everyone else had, but I was still in the ring quite a bit.  It was really tough, but TNT helped to save my life.

After Nic started to get his push it became easier for him to drop his addictions.  Then the company closed without letting him know.  He nearly fell back onto the drugs, but he received a call from Blader Skum telling him to come to the UWA try-out.  Nic went and shined.
 

 

Ron Rose - I knew that Nic was a great talent.  I also knew full well about his drug problems.  I knew he wasn't finished his rehab, so I just sent him back to rehab.

Hey, the UWA paid for the rest of my rehab.  I was doing well now, I was feeling good.  I stopped using the pain killers, the steroids, the illegal drugs, and drinking.  Both the UWA and TNT got me on track.

Then Nic Totopoulous won the TV title.   He thought that he was on his way to the big time.  He was in the best shape he had been in for a long time.  But he seemed to be stuck as the TV champ for a long time.  He thought he needed to be bigger to get the push he felt be deserved.

I thought I was going no where, and I thought that it was because of my size.  Little did I know that they were just about to give me my big push.

Nic started using steroids again.   Just as soon as he started using them he won the US title.  He thought that the steroids were the reason for that.  So he just kept using them, not knowing that it was his mic skill and his in ring skill that we getting him the push, not his size difference.
 

 

Michael Edwards - I could tell that he was starting to gett bigger all of a sudden.  I knew he was into the steroids, but couldn't prove it.  I approached him about it but he denied.

Michael Edwards approached him more than once.  After a while Nic finally admitted to it.  Michael wasn't about to let him fall back to where he was before.  He assured him that he was getting pushed because he was a great wrestler, not because he was big.

I just didn't believe him at first.   So I kept using them.

That is what Nic did.  He used them a lot too.  Then John Proctor got involved in the matter as soon as he joined the company.

John Proctor - I told him straight out that size isn't the main factor.  It was all about what he could do in the ring and on the mic.  I didn't want him getting hurt, I didn't want anyone getting hurt.   So made him stop, and he did.

Nic did stop using steroids.  He was getting better.  His ring work also began to improve as he lost the added weight.   Then John Proctor was fired and Shawn Freeman started.
 

 

I asked Shawn straight up, "Does size matter when you are in charge?"  He said no.  He said that if I keep doing what I was doing, I'd be fine.

Shawn Freeman - He was doing very well.   He aasked me, "Does size matter when [I'm] in charge?"  I said no.   It was about what he was doing, it was about him continuing to compete at the level he was at.

So Nic was just about finished his rehab when he won the Undisputed Championship.  This was the best time of his life.   He had just met the woman of his dreams as well.

Hey.  I felt good, I was off everything, and I met the girl of my dreams.  It was the best time of my life.  I felt like a million bucks.
 

 

Nic did a great job overcoming his addictions.  When he lost his Undisputed Title to Kevin Cosmos, he wasn't happy with where his career was going.  It seemed like he wasn't getting anywhere.  On top of that, his new girlfriend was getting tired of his schedule on the road, and she just wanted him to get a regular job.

She was my entire life.  So I left the UWA and took a break from wrestling.  I figured that if I took a short break, that I'd be able to get back to wrestling in TNT and she wouldn't mind.

Nic was sadly mistaken.  He signed with TNT Wrestling, and right away she was against it.  She protested this decision, but Nic loved the wrestling industry so much that there was nothing he could do, he just had to wrestle, and that is what he did.  He began his wrestling career again in TNT Wrestling, and saw his girlfriend less and less.  They grew further apart as time went on, and after about three months wrestling in TNT it was over.  The two of them separated for good.
 

 

It was really hard on me, but it was the wrestling that kept me sane.  I loved her so much, I just wish she could have lived with the wrestling.

Unfortunately for Totopoulous she couldn't.  Over the next few months Nic continued to be successful in the ring.  He was getting over his lost love, and things were looking good for him.  He was able to feud with one of his good friends Michael Edwards, and was getting ready for a feud with long time friend Blader Skum.  Then during their first of a series of matches, a terrible accident occured.  Nic slipped when trying a moonsault and broke his back.  He was told that he would be forced to stay in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

That was the hardest thing for me to hear.  The entire time I was sitting in the hospital, all I could think about was whether or not I'd be ready to go for Mayhem the next week.  Then when they told me, my heart dropped.

Blader Skum -  He really was crushed.  It waas hard to see him like that, but I knew he had it in him to get through it.

Get through it he did.  Nic was able to overcome this obstacle, and now travels around North America as a motivational speaker.  He is able to tell people his story.

I go to all sorts of places.  I go to rehab centres, I go to hospitals, I go to schools, I go everywhere I can.  I try to help out as many people as I can.

He just started a tour across Canada, and when he finishes there, he will be making trips all across the United States to help as many people as he can.  Thanks for tuning in to this special on Nic Totopoulous.  Until next time, I'm Gene Sutherland.
