PSYCHO'S COMMENTARY

Hello Everyone! This is going to be kind of short this week. I'll get the usual stuff out of the way and then I'll briefly touch upon a few things that are on my mind.

My Movie Of The Week is "The Sixth Sense", starring Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osment. It's the kind of movie where you watch it a few times and notice and appreciate something different every one of those times you watch it. Almost everybody liked this movie, and the few who didn't, obviously didn't get it.

My Match Of The Week is Gregory Helms vs. Kidman from WWF Smackdown.....or should I say WCW Smackdown? I don't know. The WCW matches on Smackdown were 100 times better than the WCW match on Raw. I'm still not used to the name change of Shane Helms to Gregory Helms though. I think I'm going to give honorable mention to Booker T. vs. Dallas Page though, which was the other WCW match from WWF Smackdown. I actually liked this match more until I watched Helms vs. Kidman for a second time. See what happens when you have WCW matches with guys that can work a good match?

I would like to explain to everybody how I view wrestling. The main reason I watch wrestling is to see the wrestling. Everything else (if entertaining) comes second. I don't care about who sells the most merchandise or who has a good character. Well, that's not entirely true. Sure, those things are good, but if you can't put on a compelling match then none of the rest matters. The wrestling needs to come first. Certain wrestlers get cheers and are entertaining outside of the ring, but since they can't put on a match that is interesting they don't rise to that next level, and they end up being in the midcard forever (if they're lucky). Now some of you might be saying what about Hulk Hogan and The Rock? Sure they might not be the two greatest wrestlers of all time, but both of them have been in some good matches simply by working hard. Of course, sometimes it's not consistent, but they are/were capable of putting on great matches if they chose to. Some wrestlers that people defend saying they are good wrestlers haven't been part of one *great* match. Maybe a couple of good matches, but no great ones. There is a difference. I would name some examples of wrestlers that are popular but don't put on entertaining matches, however I don't think this is the proper forum for such examples. If you really look closely, you can spot the wrestlers that work hard and the ones that don't.....the wrestlers who *get it* and the wrestlers that don't. That's all I have to say this week. Laterz.
