What's your name?
Geoffrey J. Harlow
Where are you from?
Born in Loma Linda, CA, moved around a lot, ended up in NY.
What do you do in the band?
I write most of the songs and sing most of them. And I play bass, although not very well.
What's your favorite Nice Pipes song?
Joy and Pain. It sort of sums up the way I feel about life. But this is a hard question, because usually my favorite song is whatever song the band has just learned and is new to me.
What inspires you musically?
This is a tough question. I'm not sure. Sometimes I share something personal and communicate my feelings in music. It's just observations I've made about life. Writing music is a therapeutic experience for me. Everyone has struggles in their lives, and this is my way of dealing with it. I see a lot of desperation and confusion in the people around me as well as the fallacies of some of my own actions, so I try and draw from that to speak from the heart. Music isn't just self therapy though. It's a lot of fun and I like to instill that in my songs also. Music is also a way for me to express myself in a more socially acceptable way on issues that are difficult to express through other means. I just try to be true to myself and as personal as I can with our audience.
What is your AIM screenname?

What's the best thing about being in Nice Pipes?
I spend a lot of time studying so music is a source of release for me. It's great to be able to get away every once in awhile to be in a band like this. I found that as I became more involved in academics I was really spending less time with my friends. The band has become a great way for me be able to hang out with them while at the same time doing something I love. Matt and Joe are a lot of fun to be around and I wouldn't pass it up for anything.
What are your hobbies?
Well music obviously. I like listening to music when I have free time or when I'm studying. I also like exercising to relieve stress. I like to hang out with my girlfriend a lot. Playing board games or card games is fun. When I really have lots of free time I like to go to the beach or do things like camping or mountain biking. This isn't very organized but that about sums it up. I guess I don't really have any awesome or interesting hobbies.
What are you favorite bands?
Osker, Bad Religion, Weezer, Green Day, The Influents, Fifteen, Lagwagon, and NOFX.
Favorite Songs by other bands?
"Pink Triangle" by Weezer, "Panic" by Osker, "Survivor" by Fifteen, "Did You Know" by Fifteen, "Sorrow" by Bad Religion, "Uptight" by Green Day.
Any other favorite things? Movies? Books?
Movies: The Big Lebowski, Snatch, anything with Ben Stiller
Books: On the Road, Dharma Bums, Desolation Angels, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Naked Lunch, Junky, The Doors of Perception/Heaven and Hell. I also like most of the poetry by Allen Ginsburg.
Anything else you want to add?
Matt does most of the promotion and sets up shows and organizes the band activities so I have to give him credit where credit is due. I love being able to write music and share it with people so come check us out or drop us a message sometime.
Any funny stories about your bandmates?
I got a good one. Ok, so one time I was at Matt's house on New Years eve and I think Joe was still there too or maybe he left, I don't know. Ok so it's a cool party and everything and the evening is winding down so I decide to go ahead and go to sleep. I'm sleeping upstairs when all of a sudden I hear this commotion from downstairs so I'm like oh man what's going on. And I'm thinking, who is that? It sounds like Matt, but I know his voice so it can't be him. I go downstairs and realize it IS Matt and he's holding this 40 year old guy up against the wall saying "I will end you." Who says that? "I WILL END YOU!" It was pretty much the coolest thing ever. Ok so apparently this guy had been messing with some woman and Matt's dad told him to get out and the guy got in Matt's dad's face. So Matt had to regulate and was all like, "How dare you come at my father like that!" It was pretty sick. That was the scariest thing I've ever seen out of Matt and it was pretty sweet. And Matt kept saying "I will end you." Again, who says that? After that the guy wouldn't leave and was starting something with a couple guys and swings at them so one of them starts beating him off with a lawn lamp. You know, the kind that you stick in your garden? Yep, those. Unbelievable. And that might be the only story I can think of so that's all you get.
