The USMLE Program was devised and perfected at the University of Missouri, Kansas City (UMKC).

It involves facilitator mediated training and video-based supplemental instrution including daily review of key topics.
Unlike other video-based progams which, are basically recordings of live lectures, our program is designed exclusively for video based instruction, where student doctors are taught key concepts in structured small groups and have a thorough discussion of key topics in a facilitator mediated environment in the form of preview and review sessions that are held daily.

Program duration is 5 hours a day, 6 days a week over 2 months.

More than 60% questions in the USMLE need to be reasoned out by the student doctors by the partial knowledge possessed by them. In such a setting, a mere review of the topics is not sufficient, no matter how thorough.

EMPHASIS ON REASONING Many years ago, the National Board Test was as much as 85% recall and as little as 15% cross_discipline applications. Today, the NBME has shifted the balance to reverse those percentages. They ask you to apply the information you have learned in different ways from how you might have learned it. This is the reason for the increase in Interdisciplinary questions. TEST TIP You will not be tested on how broadly you have ben exposed. The NBME wants to see what depth you have been exposed on key topics!!

EXAM FORMAT: The USMLE exam questions are put together by committes. These questions are very carefully constructed to be unambiguous and to test your understanding and ability to apply what you know about the fundamental concepts in the basic medical sciences. In the exam, you genrally have 60 minutes to answer each booklet of 50 questions, or: 72 seconds per question. All questions count equally. There are two types of questions: Regular multiple choice and Extended foil questions. This is a 1question=1point exam. Some questions are thrown out because they are not good. This is because either too many test- takers answer the question right, or too many answer it wrong. Other questions which the MBME include for their own research are also not counted in your score. There is no way you wil be able to identify which questions will not be counted.
