As of March 30, 2006, I am no longer a regular karaoke performer.
To view the reason behind my decision, just review my past news blogs. I don't really feel like writing the same thing simply because someone's too lazy to click a link.
It's time for me to move on in my hobbies, perhaps turning to a new hobby that may lead to an entirely new career. Maybe I can find some sort of satisfaction by doing something else, because I'm sure not getting it with what I have been doing. It's difficult to imagine just how much satisfaction one can attain from cleaning up after lazy shoppers day after day.
So, having given up karaoke, I must explore my other hobbies and see if there is one I can use to make me a happy (and possibly wealthy) man. Playing video games? Extremely doubtful I can turn that into a money-making career. Writing novels? Perhaps, but I have to finish a few before they can be published. Rock and roll? Despite the fame I've enjoyed as a karaoke singer, no band wants me with them, and I can't do it on my own since I don't even play a guitar.
What's left? Comedy, I guess. What I must do, as I see, is nudge my way into a comedy career in some form or fashion and then get busy. I've taken a look at the business and I see some good things. For one thing, comedy doesn't require a special government license. Comedy doesn't even require good taste. All a comedian needs is to train his eye to look at the world from an angle other people are afraid to approach. I've had that viewpoint for years. In fact, I've had that viewpoint since long before my alien abduction.
That being said, I might advise that those of you who read these pages keep an eye open here. In the near future, this just might become a page to advertise my local, state, regional, and even national tour dates. Remember, in comedy anything can happen and it probably will.
