What College Looks Like (Week 1)...

And I do study at this desk! It's a little messy because my camera software is all over it... that and a lot of Latin homework... Note the dork lab goggles on the windowsill and the vast amount of textbooks on the shelf...

What every student in Maine should study... how to eat a LOB-STAH! ;)

I've been voted "Most Mysterious Female Floor Member"! Yay..? I'd explain why I'm so "mysterious,"
but then I'd have to kill you...

Um... so this is how I'm feeling about chemistry right now...

Who made this molecule this week? I made this molecule this week! Well, at least we hope it was this molecule... the NMR spectra didn't come out as clear as we would like, so we're doing chromatography next week...

Here's how we've decorated the door... note the dying leaf and abstract artwork made by me on the backs of old cardboard moving boxes...

This is the featured piece of art on our door this week - yes, it's an old vinyl placemat stolen from home... I'm currently having some Giants pride (not to be confused with short pride!) and am watching the games obsessively...

The view out my window! (as evidenced by the little screen-marks on the photo...) The building is Hubbard Hall, where my advisor's office is and where Bowdoin Christian Fellowship meets AND the northernmost building in the United States to feature gargoyles in its architecture. Lovely. It also houses the Arctic Studies Museum (no jokes, now...) and portraits of all of the past presidents of Bowdoin... oooh, very East-Coast. Note the red ivy in the foreground - it grows all over the facade of our building and has started to invade our window-space...

Here's the view out of the windows at the end of the hall. The building is Appleton, another freshman dorm that looks just like Hyde (my dorm) only it's not chem-free. Definitely not... In the background, you can see the jutting monstrosity that is our chapel remodelling. Pieces of plaster and moulding have been falling off the church towers, so they've swathed them in scaffolding to fix the problem...

"It's a looooong waaaay dooooown" from the fourth floor of Hyde... guess it's good that heat rises!

Here's a path in the beautiful QUAD! We have one zillion paths snaking all the way across it, and here's a pretty one. Notice: leaves are green. :(

In the middle of the quad, we have a sculpture called "Simple Pleasures" - it's really not all that simple, because it apparently consists of thousands of tree branches all twining and sticking together. Doesn't sound like it was easy to make. But it IS fun to look at...
