Additional info:
Florence had an
extraordinary musical ability. She taught both voice and instrumental music,
and worked as the organist in several Baltimore
churches.
It was at her home on Levering
Ave., just up the street from the Thomas Viaduct
which hovers over the Patapsco River
in Elkridge, Md.,
that Florence set up housekeeping.
Audrey Swain Todd Briel Rivers remembers spending many, many summers there. The
family raised chickens at the back of the large lot that led right up to the
tracks of the B&O Railroad. There was also a large vegetable garden to
tend, and Audrey delighted in being able to help with chores related to both.
She remembers the Thanksgiving dinners as having countless dishes of
vegetables, potatoes and pies.
