THE HORSE BLANKETS
This is a Polar Fleece Cooler sheet.
This is a fine cotton turnout rug.
This is a fly sheet.
This is a blanket shell.
This is a rain coat.
This is a canvas rug.
All of these blankets above have their own uses. The fly sheet is to keep the flies off the horse, the cooler is to help the horse cool down slowly after a ride, the rain coat is to go over  a turnout rug to keep it clean, and dry and the canvas rug is used to go over the lining, the canvas is waterproof and keeps in the body heat. You need at least 'A' blanket for your horse, whether or not it is just a lining. The reason for this is because when wearing a blanket you can reduce the risk of getting rain scald when your horse is turned out to pasture. A blanket is also a good grooming aid to keep your horse clean and the shedding in the spring time to a minimum. All though blankets sound great but they  can also cause blanket rubs which are bald spots on your horse where the blanket had been sitting. To avoid this invest into a equi shirt (lycra shirt) it is made out of satin and it goes around the horses shoulders, wither and chest. This will prevent any rubs.
