| It all began when cowboys used these wonderful skills to move livestock around the ranches, then it began to be a mini competition between the cowboys, who could stop harder, slide farther and turn quicker. It was then the beginning of the reining horse competition. Today the biggest reining association is the NRHA (National Reining Horse Association). The sport has greatly interested me more than jumping. To see the athletic ablity of these horses is remarkable. There are also many reining patterns, which requires both horse and rider to accomplish. |
