Niagara Light Article Picked up By Major Anglican Internet News Site.
Our little piece about the numbers of people signifying they were Anglican on the last Canadian Census as posted on the Niagara Diocese website and how many actually support the parishes of the diocese caused quite a stir. We reprint one of the comments from the VirtueOnline-News:

Re: DIOCESE OF NIAGARA: A PROFILE IN FAILURE
18,062 of the 189,190 persons (one in ten) in the diocese who claim affiliation to Anglicanism were 'identified donors'.

According to various parish profiles reported to the Synod of 1995 (the latest figures available in the 'Profile'), Niagara parishes claimed to have 38,000 total members but average Sunday attendance is less than a third of that figure - a mere 12,124.

-------------------------------------------

These numbers are not only staggering in their implication but interesting in their own right. 190,000 people identify themselves as Anglicans but only 38,000 are listed as members of the diocese. Essentially, there are over 150,000 people waiting for the Anglican Communion to come back to Christ. Or, if you want to be even more accurate, 178,000 are on the sidelines when it comes too regular giving. How do you spell COLLAPSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

~END~

PS: At posting, over 2500 people had read the piece. If you wish to read it yourself, go to www.virtueonline.org or check our website for the link.
