Tata Chika Pika Lodge

Tata Chika Pika Lodge is located 27 miles north of the village
of Gogama. North of Sudbury off Hwy 144. Here you will find
26 miles of open water and 15 miles of river fishing,
for Perch, Whitefish, Walleye and Northern Pike.

First of all if you are familiar with Northern Ontario,
you will know were Gogama is located. If not, pull out your map
of Ontario. Go north on Hwy 69 past Parry Sound, then follow Hwy 69
to Sudbury. Go north on Hwy 144 till you see the village of Gogama,
which is located about halfway in between Sudbury and Timmins.

Coming down out of Timmins, you may see on the map the
Tatachikapika River, which flows into Lake Tatachikapika.
Which is a "V" shaped lake just north of Gogama.
Now look around that lake on the map. What do you see???
"Nothing but solitude from the world as we know it."
Now that's what "The Great White North" is all about.

When we first got there we were graciously greeted by the owners
Pat and Dick Neil. We asked them about the fishing in the lake,
and they told us that the Walleye and Pike fishing were excellent.
They pointed out both the hotspots and hazards of the lake and
also mentioned that there were no bass in the lake. We asked why,
and the response that we got, was that the pike were so big here,
that they ate all of the bass that they tried to stock.

Now, take the total solitude from the world, add in that this lake
has Monster Northern Pike and excellent Walleye fishing and then
add in the factor that we were the only ones on Lake Tatachikapika.
That definitely makes for one hell of great fishing trip.

We caught good amounts of both Pike and Walleye the week we were there.
Some days we limited out, other days with cold rainy weather were slow.
But how big do the Northern Pikes get in Lake Tatachikapika you ask.
Well, when Frenchie caught his 14 lb pike and we took it into the
main lodge to be properly weighed and frozen, the response from both
Pat and Dick was, "Oh, you got a small one." So we asked how big that
the Northern's get? and the response that we got was "25 - 30 lbs."

Needless to say, Tata Chika Pika Lodge is highly recommended by
The Niagara Hookers. Check out the link below to their web site,
