[Silence of a Mockingbird]

Take a gander,
at the lackluster happiness outside,
cross out the eyes and view Paris in
flames; through your fogged up, third-
floor retreat, you see the tears falling

Say your goodbyes to the one who cried…

Take a gander,
at the sweet ocean scenery dancing
in a pool of uncertainty, as cries
bubble from the gargled salt water
of the frozen furrows upon your brow

Say your farewells to the one who dreamed…

Take a gander,
at the latex sky that hides the stars
from your view, while hands grasp
for the turning point in this fist-
clinched forest of desuetude

Say your so longs to the one who believed…

Take a gander,
at the prankster’s tricks secreted a
royal blue, like the silver symphonies
of Nietzsche’s lies are missed upon
the cool winds of closed minds

How can the mockingbird still sing?
