John C. Thomas and Mary Pate
John C. Thomas d. March 1868 married to Mary Pate, 2nd spouse, Louisa Baldwin
John C. and Mary Pate has the following children:
Elizabeth b. 1830 d. 1853
William M.  b. 1829 d. 1882 m. Susanna Morgan
Henry Brickhouse b. 1833 d. 1896 m. Grace Elizabeth Burleson
fought in the Civil War for Waul's Texas Legion.

Samuel Pate b. 1836 died in the Civil War
John C. Jr. b. 1838 died after 1880 (was disabled)

John C. came to Texas from Marlboro Co., South Carolina about 1839, after a couple of years in Alabama.  We are not sure if Mary made it to Texas.  The last we know of her was about 1838 in Alabama. John married Louisa Baldwin in Texas about 1842. John C. died in Leon Co., Texas in March of 1868. It is not known where he is buried.  He was a Confederate States Postmaster for Bear Grass, Leon Co, during the war.

Mary's father and mother was
Thouroughgood Pate and Frances Bright. Thoroughgood was son of Samuel Pate (1760-1850), son of Thoroughgood Pate, Sr. of Richmond Co., NC.
Frances Bright was daughter of Charles and Mary Bright. Charles was b. 1756 d. March 1830 in Marlboro C., SC.
Charles Bright was son of
Henry Bright III d. c. 1766 in Currituck Co., NC.
Henry Bright III was son of
Henry Bright the younger d. 1749 in Currituck Co., NC
