   Homemade Rolls and Bread from Starter

To make starter:
1 c warm water
1/2 c sugar
1 pkg dry yeast
3 Tbsp Instant potatoes
Put in Mason Jar and cover.  Leave on counter 3 days.  Stir or shake 1-2 times dailey

After 3 days:  feed with the following:
1 c warm water
1/2 c sugar
3 Tbsp instant potaoes

Put in refrigerator.  Keep in refrigerator 5-7 days.  Then take out and feed again.  Leave out overnight.  Next day, make your bread by doing the following:
In mixing bowl put:  1/2 c sugar
1/2 c oil
1 tsp salt
1 c starter
1 1/2 c warm water
6 1/2 c flour
Mix all together and kneed until smooth.  Make into rolls or put into greased loaf pan.  Cover with towel. 
Put starter back in refrigerator and repeat feeding in 5-7 days.  If you do not make your bread, either give a cup away to a friend or pour a cup out and feed as usual.


               Hush Puppies

1 c corn bread mix
2 tsp dry onion
1/4 tsp garlic poder
1/2 c -1 c milk
Enough to moisten thoroughly

Drop by teaspoon into hot oil.  Makes 1 1/2 dozen

         The Best Buttermilk Biscuit
1 qt flour (4 cups)
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp soda
5 Tbsp shortening (I use a potato masher to cut up )
2 c buttermilk

Mix together.  Roll out onto floured surface.  Cut into biscuits.  Great!

         "Red Lobster Biscuits"

1 c milk
1/3 c mayonaise
1 Tbsp sugar
2 c Self-Rising Flour
1/4 c grated American cheese

Mix all ingredients then add grated cheese.  Drop batter into paper lined muffin tins.  Drizzle top with liquid margarine and dust each with a little garlic powder.  Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

           Hot Water Cornbread

1 c cornmeal
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 c water
Cooking oil

Blend dry ingredients.  Bring water to a boil and pour over dry ingredients.  Mix thoroughly.  Allow to cool slightly and pat into patties.  Drop into skillet with enough hot oil to cover bottom of skillet.

"International House of Pancakes"                       Pancake

1 1/4 c all purpose flour1 egg
1/4 c sugar
1 heaping tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 c buttermilk

Drop by ice-cream scoop onto hot grease griddle or pan.  When clear bubbles form, they are ready to be flipped over.
