Today's issue of USA Today has a transcript of a user chat with the publisher of SportsBusinessNews.com, Howard Bloom. In the chat, Bloom answers questions regarding relocation, contraction, and economics in the NHL, as well as the fate of the 6 Canadian teams. It is a very informative read.
Bloom goes onto mention that contraction is the "NHL's inevitable destiny", but also goes on to mention several possible cities for the relocation of current franchises, including Portland, Houston, Cleveland, and even Cincinnati and Hartford???
