He completed his student teaching at Beaverton High School, Vose Elementary, and Merle Davies Elementary School; all in Beaverton, Oregon. Mr. Miura began his music career at Central Intermediate under the direction of Mr. Yanagida and Mr. Shimada. He also studied the clarinet under Mr. Stanley Shimada. Mr. Miura later attended McKinley High School where he was a member of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble for all 3 years under the direction of Mr. Henry Miyamura, graduating in 1975. At Pacific University, Mr. Miura studied the clarinet under Dr. Albert Freedman and has performed in the Band, Pacific Community Orchestra, Lewis and Clark Community Orchestra, and the Theater in the Grove. A starter in the 98 lb. division that was cut short due to a broken arm. Mr. Miura had great success his senior year defeating the OIA champion twice and the previous year's state runner up twice. Going into the OIA tournament as the 2nd seed, an elbow injury forced him to pull out of the tournament after the semi finals resulting in a 6th place finish. A week later, Mr. Miura defeated the State and OIA runner up in the first round of the State tournment (still injured) . Mr. Miura's Wrestling career at Pacific University was cut short due to a knee injury that required surgery. However, the experiences gained in those two years at Pacific paved his way towards his coaching career at Nanakuli and McKinley High School. Today, Mr. Miura is one of the top Wrestling Officials in Hawaii and has officiated the State finals for several years. In December 2007, Mr. Miura officiated the Northwest Dual Meet Wrestling tournament in Oregon.
