There's a celebrity among us! Last year Coach Lockyear did such an excellent job of training the Cross Country team, and winning two state championships, that this summer she was awarded the Boys Kansas Cross Country Coach of the Year 1999-2000. According the association rules you can only be selected as boys or girls coach of the year. The award was presented at the Ramada Inn in Topeka during the coaches convention this summer. Members of the Kansas Coaches Association voted at the end of the school year for the best coach of each sport. When asked about her feelings of becoming "famous" coach replied, "that day I felt famous because coaches from all over the state were there.
