2. I will follow the rules of good sportsmanship in all dog related competitions and activities, and be respectful of other breeders listed in this directory.
3. I will fully explain to all prospective buyers the disadvantages of owning my breed(s). I acknowledge that the primary responsibility of the breeder in the sale of a dog is the welfare of the animal. I will make an honest effort to educate the purchaser in responsibilities of pet ownership and will strongly encourage the neutering of pets.
4. I will work persistently to improve the quality of my breed with an eye towards temperament as well as conformation and health.
5. I will, before breeding any dog or bitch, carefully analyze the conformation and pedigrees of the prospective sire and dam and, keeping the breed standard clearly in mind, refusing the mating if, in my opinion, it will not be in the best interest of the breed. If I deny a stud service, I will fully explain my reasons to the owner of the bitch.
6. I will refuse to deal with wholesalers, brokers or sell to pet shops, and I will include in all stud contracts an agreement to be signed by the owner of the bitch that no puppies from the mating will be wholesaled, brokered, or sold to pet shops.
7. I will extend the utmost care in selecting homes for puppies and adult dogs I place or sell. It is the breeders responsibility to assure that each dog sold or placed will be cared for responsibly. The education of the purchaser is the responsibility of the breeder.
8. While dogs should never be treated as a commodity, it must be realized that trasaction involving dogs are business transactions. I will make a conscientious effort to protect all parties through the use of binding documents, signed by both parties, e.g. bills of sale and written contracts.
9. I will comply with all AKC rules governing the sale and gift of dogs, as well as all the rules governing record keeping by the AKC.
10. I will comply with the New Hampshire state laws regulating the humane care, sale and gift of dogs. I will provide a veterinary health certificate within (14) days of the sale of every dog.
11. Within three (3) days following the sale of the dog, and in addition to any other guarantees I offer, if any animal is found not to be healthy by a veterinary exam, I refund the purchase proce upon the animals immediate return.
