NC@Your Service and the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) formed NC   Classes Online to focus on enabling teachers to create classroom web sites.  You can create a single web page or a multi-page website.   The sites are hosted at Geocities.com through an agreement with Yahoo.  These are not the usual free sites available through Geocities -   those sites are blocked. These   sites are set up especially for NC teachers and will be free of advertisements. Registration must go through the NHCS webmaster, but it is a simple process. Forms are available from your school's computer resource   teacher/webmaster/technology facilitator or the Technology Department.
Below   are a couple of sample sites:
http://www.geocities.com/nhcsweb2/ - This site was created using Page Wizard.
http://www.geocities.com/nhcsweb - This site was create from scratchusing Page Builder.
PRO:  NC Classes Online offers a range of choices in building your web page.   You can use the PageWizard to create a single web page.   Simply enter the requested information and a page is created for you.  You only need to enter/edit text to create a web page.  There is also PageBuilder software that will allow you to customize the pages that you create or create pages from scratch. If you have access to web authoring software, such as FrontPage, you can also upload your own pages.  A built-in file manager allows you to upload and manage your files and images.
CON:  The Page Wizard and Page Builder are very easy to use.   It may take a little longer to learn your way around the file   manager, but the flexibility offered will be worth the effort!
How to Get Started:  You must register for a site through the NHCS webmaster.   Registration forms are available from your school webmaster, computer resource teacher, or technology facilitator.
Complete the form and mail it to Dolores McLean, Technology Department.  Once your site has been created, you will be notified and receive workshop/training information.  Workshops will be offered at the individual schools and the Technology Department.
All web pages or websites developed and maintained by NHCS employees must adhere to NHCS Web Guidelines.
