10 Day Rule Information
When a studetn accumulates more than ten consecutive days of unlawful/unexcused absences, the following action will be taken in accordance with local policies and North Carolina Compulsory School Attendance Law (G.S. 115C-378)

  1. Students 16 and over may be withdrawn from school as of the first day following his/her last day in attendance.

   2.  Students under age 16 who are unlawfully absent for more than 10 consecutive absences are not to be withdrawn until their whereabouts are known or it is determined they have left the attendance area.  Once students who continue to reside in the school's attendance area have been located, they should continue to be coded unlawfully absent as long as the reasons for their absences are unlawful.
