The North Harris County Texas
Sigma Kappa Alumnae Chapter

1997-98 Highlights

In September, we met for lunch at Wunsche Brothers Cafe in Old Town Spring.

In September, the Kingwood SIG met to paint t-shirts at the home of Linda Barnett.

In October, we planned to play Bunko at Wilma Mysak's home, but we had such fun eating and talking, the dice never made it into our hands!

On October 18, we participated in the 1997 Greater Houston Memory Walk which raised much needed funds for the local Alzheimer's Association.

Founders' Day on November 9 was a real treat. Hosted by the Kingwood SIG, lunch was delightful at Tattletell's Tea Room in Humble. The room was done in Sigma Kappa colors:

Thanks to Linda Barnett for arranging a wonderful afternoon:

Our favorite event is always our Christmas Ornament exchange. Although we had to post-pone it, we did finally meet at the Cypresswood Clubhouse for a wonderful evening.

In January, the Kingwood SIG hosted a Pampered Chef party at Diana Searcy's home. In addition to the great food, we enjoyed surprising Audrey Peterson with her 50 year pin. It was presented by Audrey's daughter Leslie!

In January, we had a fun craft night at Lynn Culver's. We finished the Sigma Kappa angels for the Kappa Alpha collegiate chapter.

In February, we spent a very enjoyable morning at Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries. We helped at their resale shop, and followed that with lunch at the Whistle Stop in Tomball.

In February, we also enjoyed opening night of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

In March, we enjoyed dinner at Suzanne's Bakery and Restaurant on FM 1960.

April brought the installation of our newest collegiate chapter, Kappa Eta, at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. A number of our members joined other area alumnae at the installation of the chapter.

Our Mother/daughter tennis tournament, this year held in May, was a hugh success. We had beautiful weather, great tennis, and wonderful fashions during a delightful lunch. Proceeds again were donated to the Houston Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
