Welcome to the
Hampton SC Workforce Center
Serving Hampton County and the Lowcountry
The mission of the Hampton Workforce Center is
to provide employers, job seekers and those seeking training, a variety of employment and training services at one location.
With that said, we have created an integrated and accountable workforce development system where employers can find qualified workers and job seekers can find good paying jobs. We feel that the quality of our workforce is the key to attracting and retaining business in the Grand Strand. Our workforce is supported by a development system, second to none, that is market-driven and user friendly. It provides employers with skilled workers through a collaboration of workforce development services offered by a number of
Partners associated with the Coastal Workforce Center.
Workforce Center is located just off Hwy 501,
at 200-A Victory Lane,
Conway, SC. Office hours are 8:30am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
The “one-stop” center concept began in 1995 as an initiative proposed by the US Department of Labor. A pilot program began in various states to develop a model for everyone to use. The goal was to bring multiple agencies together under one roof to offer an array of services. The idea being that job seeking customers could go to a One-Stop and look for work, explore education options, obtain local labor market information, seek career counseling, or speak with any of the multitude of other partners associated with “one-stop” system.

Commission, with its 35 Job Service offices, possessed all the basic criteria needed for the new “one-stop” system. Not only did the Job Service offices around the state possess the basic criteria, they had already developed over a half century’s rapport with the business community and other local, state and federal agencies. It was a logical and cost effective choice to house the new One-Stop system in the South Carolina Employment Security Commission office buildings throughout the state.
Not too long ago, there were two such Job Service offices located in Horry County, one in Myrtle Beach and the other in Conway. In 2002 it was determined that the Grand Strand area could be better served if both the Conway and Myrtle Beach offices were combined into a single one-stop. So, a new state of the art building was constructed adjacent to Horry/Georgetown Technical College’s Conway campus, both the old offices were closed and all the services were moved into the new building called the Coastal Workforce Center.
The Coastal Workforce Center is one of South Carolina’s premier One-Stop Workforce Centers and has been recognized as a leader in workforce development. The Coastal Workforce Center serves the world, but primarily Horry and surrounding
