I've replaced the chrome side pods this year. They are pressure fitted to the sides of the dual K&N filters. I made 2 brackets of metal strap by following the lines of the original air box, and attached them to the original air box mounts with 1/4 in bolts. I cut a 1" piece of PVC pipe and a 1/4 in threaded rod the width of the air box, then ran the rod through the chrome side cover, the bracket, the PVC pipe and repeated the same on the other side. The ends have a washer and a cap nut on them. I had some trouble last year,when the bike would surge at highway speeds when side winds seemed to blow in behind the motor. This mod seems to have taken care of this. It will also give some protection from the rain.
