On the morning of January 20, 1993, almost 250,000 members of Alpha Phi Omega had the opportunity to witness a unique event. One of our own fraternity brothers was inaugurated as the 42nd President of the United States of America.
On October 18, 1966, a membership application for William J. Clinton was received at the National Office. On October 20, 1966, he was assigned the national number of 95028. His chapter number was 213. President Clinton was born August 19, 1946, in Hope, Arkansas, and grew up in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He entered Georgetown University in September 1964. His Alpha Phi Omega application stated that his course of study would be international affairs. His extracurricular activities included band and intramurals. Over the years Brother Clinton remained in communication with and provided service to the Fraternity. In particular, as Governor he was the Honorary Chair of our Capital Campaign Fund to build the National Headquarters building.
